Is there anyone here who's good at images? I'd love to add the logo to the infobox of Voice of the People (Israel) and it would be great if someone could do it for me :) MaskedSinger (talk) 12:28, 25 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Help with Hebrew inscription

[edit]

Hi. Recently, I wrote this artile about the Szmul Zygielbojm Monument in Warsaw, Poland, dedicated to Polish-Jewish politian from WW2. Part of the monument includes inscriptions in Polish and Hebrew, but I do not speak Hebrew. As such, I wanted to ask for help in transcribing this text from this photos (1, 2). Additionally, I found part of the Hebrew inscription online, but I think I didn't paste it correctly into the article, and it broke the lines in wrong places. As such, maybe someone could also help me fix that? Thank you in advance for help :) Artemis Andromeda (talk) 02:12, 7 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Artemis Andromeda, it's Yiddish, not Hebrew.

Thank you @Alaexis: :)
Could you also maybe help me with formating this, to make it single line of text?

Hebrew inscription:

Help with Hebrew inscription (once more)

[edit]

Hi, I know I already asked about similar thing a week ago. But I wrote another article about this memorial in Warsaw (Wanda Tazbir Monument), this time related to a person Righteous Among the Nations. It includes a plaque with a quite long inscription in Hebrew. I'm not expecting anything since its a bit long, but if anybody would want to help anyway, I would really appreciate it. Here is a photo of the inscription: link). Also, the article I wrote includes the inscription in English, if you would need to a cross-reference. Anyway, thank you for taking time to read this, and I hope you all have a good day. Artemis Andromeda (talk) 23:40, 13 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Your link doesn't work. Alaexis¿question? 21:43, 14 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It works for me. Zerotalk 05:43, 16 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Alaexis Hi, I took it from this website (link). See the photo of that book with insciption. I think the link might not work if you try to access it from mobile. At least for me, it works on PC, but not on my phone, idk why. Artemis Andromeda (talk) 16:01, 16 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Now it works for me too. The Hebrew text says the same thing as the English one. Alaexis¿question? 17:49, 16 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Alaexis Hi, I know it says the same thing. But I would like to quote Hebrew text in the article, similarly to how it was done with Szmul Zygielbojm Monument. Sincerelly, Artemis Andromeda (talk) 02:14, 22 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Ah got it. I'm a bit busy atm, sorry. I think that if you can get hold of a higher-resolution image, this is one of the tasks that modern AI models can perform pretty well. Alaexis¿question? 22:12, 22 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Israel's War of Independence didn't happen according to Wikipedia

[edit]

Is Wikiproject Israel okay with this?! The article formerly named Israel's War of Independence has been redirected to 1948 Palestine war. I voiced my thoughts about vanishing it on the newly-named talk page, but it would be helpful to get some input from the Wikiproject expressly for Israel. I don't care what the New Historians say or that Benny Morris. "Disappearing" the article devoted to Israel's War of Independence, i.e. that Israel WON that war, seems grossly misleading. If I'm wrong, tell me please? FeralOink (talk) 17:25, 17 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Prior to the change, it redirected to 1947–1949 Palestine war which in turn redirected to 1948 Palestine War. A *bot* (an automatic program that works off of some objective criteria) changed it so that rather than the article being redirected twice, it redirected to the Ultimate target. This bot would have done the same if Shorts had redirected to Knickers and Knickers redirected to Pantaloons, it would have changed it so Shorts directed to Pantaloons directly.Naraht (talk) 21:04, 17 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That's not my point. I understand about redirects. I want to know why we can't have an Israel's War of Independence article anymore? 1947 - 1949 Palestine War isn't acceptable either! It makes it sound like Israel still wasn't Independent even in 1949. Why was it just changed from Israel's War of Independence? That is the right name.--FeralOink (talk) 14:03, 20 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
"That is the right name."? Are you for real? You know this is the PIA topic area, right? Was there a time when 'Israel's War of Independence' was not a redirect? When was that i.e. where are your 'formerly named' and 'anymore' words coming from? Sean.hoyland (talk) 14:41, 20 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Also, did something specific cause you to write this comment? If so, what was it? Sean.hoyland (talk) 15:02, 20 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Sigh, I wrote that comment first, then came over here and linked to it. The specific cause was the absence of an Israel's War of Independence article in Wikipedia. Upon a closer reading of advice from Naraht and a more detailed perusal of YOUR (Sean.hoyland's) inquiry about 'formerly named' and 'anymore' regarding article title, I responded to both your inquiry and the one over on 1948 Palestine War talk, see here please. I think my findings, described there, and which you helpfully guided me to, should put the matter to rest. I'm still not happy, but at least I understand what happened in Wikihistory.--FeralOink (talk) 00:40, 21 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
There is a Wikipedia article on Israel's War of Independence. It's the 1948 Palestine war article. These are just different names for the same war. IOHANNVSVERVS (talk) 00:45, 21 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
